Between my degrees, I took some valuable 'gap' time to gain work experience that would help me determine the best educational and career path forward. My passion for research questions and drug policy led me to do a PhD in Criminology at U of T. I wanted to stay connected with supportive faculty I already forged relationships with, plus U of T is affiliated with Canada's largest teaching, research, and clinical institute for mental health and substance use, CAMH. I have many years of experience coordinating public health research on programs and policies related to people who use drugs. I recently completed a Canadian Institutes of Health Research Postdoctoral Fellowship held at CAMH and am now conducting with a great team a new research project on cannabis legalization in Canada. The new research is timely and very much in line with my longstanding research and teaching interests.
