A5. Ti Plant

Rating ( vote)

Brought to the islands by the Polynesians.  Used in cooking one of Hawaii’s favorite dishes, “Pork Lau Lau”.   The pork is wrapped with green Ti leaves and simmered to perfection.  Also used for Ti leaf leis.

There are many different variations in color, some red, green and variegated types. The most common is a member of the lily family with a distinctive cluster of large, glossy, dark green leaves on a stalk that can grow up to ten feet high.
