Dr. Bill Irwin is Radiological Toxicological Sciences Program Chief for the Vermont Department of Health. He serves as Vermonts Radiation Control Program Director and is Vermonts lead for radiological and nuclear emergency management and preventive radiological nuclear detection. Bill is a Crew Chief for the Vermont Hazardous Materials Response Team, and a volunteer firefighter/EMT. He has worked with international, federal, state and local scientists and emergency managers to improve radiological and nuclear emergency preparedness. Dr. Irwin is also the Conference of Radiation Control Program Directors (CRCPD) representative on the Radiological Operations Support Specialist (ROSS) Steering Committee. The ROSS Steering Committee guides the certification of hundreds of radiological and nuclear emergency subject matter experts to fill gaps in the nations capabilities. Dr. Irwin is a Council Member of the National Council for Radiation Protection Measurements, a Certified Health Physicist, and has served as CRCPD Chair-Elect, Chair and Past Chair.
