Walter Chomentowski

Mr. Chomentowski began working as a Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing Specialist, for the Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division (MSP/EMHSD) in 2014.

Since starting at MSP Mr. Chomentowski has collaborated with the MSP Aviation Unit to improve situational awareness during state emergencies using the Trooper 2 helicopter and the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS).

Mr. Chomentowski holds degrees from Purdue University and Yale University. Prior to the MSP Mr. Chomentowski worked at Michigan State University and University of New Hampshire using GIS and remote sensing to quantify global deforestation rates in the tropics. He has co-authored several papers in scientific journals associated with his work in the tropics.
