Beverly Byerts is the Private Sector Disaster Coordinator for the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. In that role, she works with stakeholders and partners to meet the goals outlined in the Economic Recovery Support Strategy for Hurricane Irma. She also works to expand public private partnerships in disaster preparedness, response and recovery.
Prior to joining DEO, Beverly worked with the Division of Emergency Management where she was Deputy Director of External Affairs. In this role, she supported activations of the State Emergency Response Team support function for business and industry in response to emergency events including Hurricanes Hermine, Matthew, Irma and Maria, and the Pulse nightclub shooting.
