Kevin Taylor is the Operations Division Chief at the Montecito Fire Department in Santa Barbara, California. Chief Taylor began his career in 1987 with Cal Fire in San Luis Obispo County and was hired by the Paso Robles Fire Department in 1991 where he progressed through the ranks to Battalion Chief in 2003; that same year Chief Taylor was the Incident Commander of the San Simeon Earthquake that damaged or destroyed four square blocks of Downtown Paso Robles. He promoted to Division Chief – Operations at the Montecito Fire Department in 2015. Chief Taylor is a founding member of the Santa Barbara County Type 3 Incident Management Team and currently serves as one of three Incident Commanders. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Administration and a Master’s Degree in Emergency Management. Chief Taylor was one of the Unified Commanders of the 1‐9 Debris Flow event in Montecito and remains engaged in the recovery process.
