My work is in the field of Citizen Science - which invites the public to participate in scientific research in various ways. My specific focus is Citizen Observatories which are community-based environmental monitoring initiatives, that lead to science or policy outcomes for Air Quality, Water Quality, Sound Pollution, Smell Pollution, Land Use, Biodiversity, and more.

They are mostly top-down and initiated by scientists with research funding, inviting participants locally across a variety of locations- but they can also be bottom-up, many communities are starting their own investigations from scratch.

My interest is in co-creating such projects, with the participation of scientists for robust science and the participation of technologists for end-user design and impact.
