Getting Started @ GCU is a pre – entry online course for all new students coming to University for the first time. You may be coming directly from School, College or Work or returning after time out, Getting Started @ GCU is for you! The course will help you understand what studying at University is really like. University may be different to what you have experienced before. You will be expected be an independent learner, taking responsibility for your own learning. Getting Started @ GCU introduces these concepts to help you understand new ways of learning and how to become a successful independent learner, develop your study skills as well as considering extra-curricular opportunities, and understand what support is on offer to you, all before you arrive at GCU to start your studies.
How do I access Getting Started @ GCU? This is done via our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
1.Once you confirm your place at GCU you will receive registration details. You must register to receive your GCU ID and password.
2.Log onto blackboard.gcal.ac.uk
which will take you into the University's VLE GCULearn
3.Enter your User ID and password to access GCULearn
4. Now click on the following link to enrol yourself onto the course: http://bit.ly/gcu2019
5. Click on the 'Submit'
button on the right hand side of the page
6. You are now enrolled and ready to start 'Getting Started @ GCU' online pre-entry induction course
7. The course navigation buttons are on the left hand side – go to 'How to use this course'
