Courtney Bernet is the Planning Program Manager at DC HSEMA, coordinating the design and development of District-wide plans. Currently, she is working implement a preparedness program that connects planning, operations, and capability building to create functional tools that streamline information for the EOC and first responders. Ms. Bernet also provides crisis planning in the EOC, playing a key role in utilizing deliberative planning to develop innovative analysis products for operational partners. As the response mission area coordinator, she works closely with HSEMA’s Operations Division to align the daily priorities and workflows with preparedness. Finally, she co-leads HSEMA's Incident Management Task Force, working to reimagine how the District provides 24/7, EOC, and field-level information sharing, coordination, and resource support in an innovative, streamlined, and simplified way. Previously, Ms. Bernet served as Special Assistant to three HSEMA Directors, coordinating senior-level initiatives and confidential project support. Ms. Bernet earned an MPA from George Mason University with a concentration in Emergency Management and a BA from James Madison University.
