David Crawford joined AIA North Carolina at the beginning of 2001. During his tenure, he has co-led the development of the partnership between North Carolina Emergency Management, The American Institute of Architects North Carolina, The Structural Engineers Association of North Carolina and the American Society of Civil Engineers of North Carolina. David has also been an integral part of post-disaster response efforts that executed this partnership, including Hurricane Matthew (2016) and Hurricane Florence (2018). Crawford sat on the Board of Directors of the two accredited architecture schools in San Diego for 5 years and served on various city and regional advisory committees. He also served on the National AIA Board of Directors from 2006-2007. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives and in 1996-97 chaired the California Council of Architectural Component Executives (California CACE) and in 2006 served as President of the National Council of Architectural Component Executives.
