Jay Wiggins

Mr. Wiggins began his career serving in the Marines; in 1990, he returned to Brunswick, GA to serve with the Brunswick Police Department and later with the Glynn County Police Department. In 2008, Mr. Wiggins was promoted to Captain with the Police Department and appointed as Director of the Glynn County Emergency Management/Homeland Security Agency. Along with his considerable law enforcement training, Mr. Wiggins has quality emergency management training from facilities like the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Florida. Mr. Wiggins has led mitigation, response and recovery efforts during Hurricanes Matthew and Irma. Mr. Wiggins possesses a BS from Troy State University in criminal justice. He is also a Certified Emergency Manager through the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. Mr. Wiggins serves on the Board of the local American Red Cross, is Chairman of the Local Emergency Planning Committee, and is an adjunct professor at the College of Coastal Georgia. In March 2017, Mr. Wiggins was honored to be selected to join the U.S. Navy Blue Angels in the Wings Over Golden Isles Air Show’s Key Influencer program. Mr. Wiggins and his family live on St. Simons Island.
