Mr. Sligh served as the Senior Oil Spill Technical Advisor for the Office of Marine Environmental Response (CG-MER) since 2015 and completed a detail at the White House in 2017 assigned to the National Security Council as the Director for Response Policy within the Resilience Directorate. He served as the Chief, Incident Management & Crisis Response Division at Coast Guard Headquarters, supported the Coast Guard's Office of Marine Environmental Response as the Area Contingency Plan program manager, and worked for Booz Allen Hamilton in support of Coast Guard Headquarters. Mr. Sligh served as Deputy Incident Commander for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and had previously played key leadership roles during Hurricanes Katrina, Ike, and Gustav. Mr. Sligh retired from the Coast Guard after a 24-year active duty career. He earned a Bachelor degree from the University of Phoenix and holds a Master's of Business Administration from Northcentral University. Mr. Sligh has been a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) since November 2008.
