With the four principles of cooperative learning (P.I.E.S.) (Kagan, 2014) and the Innovators Compass ( established as tools to accelerate student outcomes (2019 presentation), the effective implementation of such collaborative tools can often only be achieved when faculty are well supported. Various methods of faculty support, not directly related to any particular virtual learning platform, will be shared. Session participants, especially those within higher education and training environments, will be encouraged to reflect on and share how they applied or could have applied these means of support during the challenging transition of traditionally face-to-face modalities to virtual learning forced upon many institutions by the COVID-19 pandemic. Ways to continue to leverage virtual tools and to support faculty in doing so after the pandemic for ongoing collaborative learning value will be discussed. After attending this session, attendees will be able to leverage tangible faculty support strategies to maximize positive student outcomes through effective collaborative learning on virtual platforms.
