There are three ways to get a chance to receive autographs from a Guest of Honor at their Regular Autograph Session. The three ways are listed in order of priority.
This year at Anime Expo®, we will have Autograph Vouchers for select Guest of Honor Regular Autograph Sessions. Not all Guest of Honor Panels will have Autograph Vouchers. Attendees must receive a raffle ticket while being seated at the panel in order to be eligible. Raffle tickets will only be passed out during seating before the panel begins and while supplies last, after which no further tickets will be distributed. Each attendee may only receive one raffle ticket. Any person found trying to take multiple raffle tickets will automatically be disqualified and may also be asked to leave the panel and receive a warning.
At the end of the panel, 50 tickets will be randomly selected per eligible Guest of Honor Regular Autograph Session. Not all Guest of Honor Regular Autograph Sessions will have Autograph Vouchers. Holders of winning tickets must be present at the end of the panel when the raffle winners are announced in order to claim their Autograph Vouchers for the Guest of Honor Regular Autograph Session. These attendees must then line up and receive their Autograph Vouchers which they will take to the regular autograph sessions 15 minutes before the session begins. Unclaimed Autograph Vouchers will not be passed out to Attendees.
Attendees are responsible for providing their own material for signing. Please make sure that the item is properly licensed and that the item is from something that the Guest of Honor has worked on. Rules and restrictions on what will or will not be signed can change so please ask Autograph Staff to make sure that an item is eligible to be signed. Attendees are recommended to bring at least one backup item in case their item cannot be signed. Each attendee may only receive 1 (one) autograph per time in line after which they must then go to the end of the standby line if they wish to receive a second autograph.
Autograph sessions are subject to change or cancellation at any time without notice. Autograph tickets of any kind only denote eligibility to receive an autograph at a Regular Autograph Session. They do not guarantee that the holder will receive an autograph and cannot be used to get priority at the Open Autograph Sessions.
Autograph Voucher Winners
Winners of Autograph Vouchers must arrive to the regular autograph session at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the autograph session and will line up in order of arrival. Holders of Autograph Vouchers will be the first group of attendees to have the chance to receive an autograph. Autograph Voucher winners do not need a line placeholder ticket. Holders of Autograph Vouchers who arrive to the regular autograph session after it has begun will be placed at the end of the priority line. Autograph Vouchers will be collected at the regular autograph session.
Individuals that attended a Guest of Honor Panel, received a raffle ticket, but did not win will be able to line up in the panel priority line. This line is separate from the line for holders of the Autograph Vouchers and will be the second group of attendees to have the chance to receive an autograph, going after all Autograph Voucher winners have received an autograph. There will be line placeholder tickets for the priority line. The Priority Line will be closed 15 minutes after the start of the autograph session and new line placeholder tickets will no longer be handed out. Those arriving after 15 minutes and do not already possess a line placeholder ticket for the Priority Line will be placed at the end of the Standby Line. As long as their ticket is still valid, attendees that possess said valid line placeholder ticket can still re-enter the Priority Line.
Those who did not attend a Guest of Honor Panel and those who did not receive a raffle ticket will be able to line up in a standby line that will be the third group of attendees to have the chance to receive an autograph, going after everyone in the priority line has received an autograph. There will be line placeholder tickets for the standby line.
This year, we will be using a line placeholder ticket system to cut down on the need to wait in line at a Regular Autograph Session. Each line placeholder ticket only denotes one’s place in line and does not guarantee an autograph. Line placeholder tickets will be numbered sequentially.
For each autograph session, there will be two types of line placeholder tickets:
Each line placeholder ticket is specific to a single autograph session, and will have the name of the Guest of Honor, the date and time of the autograph session in which it is valid, the type of line, and the number of the ticket printed on the ticket. Line placeholder tickets will only be distributed on the same day of each autograph session. If a Guest of Honor has another regular autograph session different from what is printed on the line placeholder ticket, a new line placeholder ticket must be obtained for that autograph session on the same day of the autograph session.
Prior to the start of an autograph session, line placeholder tickets will allow attendees to step out of line and maintain their position in that line, allowing them to do things such as use the restroom or explore the Exhibit Hall. Attendees do not need to return to line up in the autograph area until 1 hour to 30 minutes prior to the start of an autograph session. Upon returning to the autograph area, attendees should check with those next to them to make sure that they are in the right place in line. Please help other attendees find their place in line. Once the autograph session has started, if an attendee’s number comes up and they are not in line (even by one number), the ticket is no longer valid and they lose their place in line. Each attendee must be present for their turn to redeem an autograph. Line placeholder tickets will be collected as ticket holders reach the front of the line or at the end of the autograph session.
Open Autograph Sessions are held in the afternoon of the last day of the convention. There are no tickets for this event and is strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Open Autograph Sessions are attended at the sole discretion of each Guest of Honor. Each Guest of Honor may end his or her participation in the Open Autograph Session at any time before the session officially ends. Guests of Honor may also continue to sign autographs after the Open Autograph Session has officially ended.
This year, there will be two Open Autograph Sessions. Please check at the Autographs Information Table to find out which Open Autograph Session each Guest of Honor will be attending.
In the event that you miss the Regular Autograph Session(s) and Open Autograph Session, you can also obtain an autograph by bidding and winning an item personally donated by the Guest of Honor at the Charity Auction.
If you have any questions about an autograph session or the autograph policy, please ask an Autographs Staff member at the Autographs Information Table, located at the center of the autographs area, and we will do our best to assist you. We’d also like to hear any feedback you have so that we can continue to improve our autograph sessions.
