WELCOME TO IEEE ICC 2014!


The 2014 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC) will be held in the beautiful city of Sydney, Australia from 10-14 June 2014. Themed "Communications: The Centrepoint of the Digital Economy," this flagship conference of IEEE Communications Society will feature a comprehensive technical program including twelve Symposia and a number of Tutorials and Workshops. IEEE ICC 2014 will also include an exceptional expo program including keynote speakers and an Industry Forum & Exhibition

CONFERENCE LOCATION

The Hilton Sydney is the headquarters hotel for IEEE ICC 2014. The Hilton Sydney will host the registration, keynotes, exhibition, technical and interactive sessions, industry & business panels, workshops and tutorials. All levels (1-4) will be used.

Sheraton on the Park is where and the Awards Luncheon ComSoc committee meetings will take place (Levels 1, 2 and 5).



REGISTRATION

All attendees and accompanying guests must register and receive a conference badge in order to participate in conference activities. Photo ID is required.  Individuals are responsible for picking up their own Registration packages. No attendee will be allowed to pick up registration for their colleagues.


IEEE ICC 2014 Badges must be worn at all times and are necessary for entrance into all IEEE ICC 2014 sessions and events.  Badges will be checked at the entrance to sessions and events to ensure eligibility.

FOOD and BEVERAGE


Full registration includes Awards Luncheon and Conference Banquet.


ONLY Workshop attendees receive lunch on the day of the workshop.

Complimentary drink tickets for the Welcome Reception are included in your registration packet.
Additional tickets for the Awards Luncheon (US$65) and Conference Banquet (US$150) may be purchased in advance by modifying your registration online or onsite at the Registration Desk.

The conference app has food and dining information for Sydney.



IEEE ICC MOBILE APP

IEEE ICC 2014 EXHIBITION


IEEE ICC EXPO 2014 is located in Ballroom Lobby of the Hilton Sydney. EXPO Prize Drawings will be held during the networking coffee breaks. You will be receiving an Exhibit Punch Card.  Visit all of the exhibitors & have your card marked.  Then bring your fully marked card to the IEEE ComSoc booth to obtain a prize (while supplies last).

WIRELESS ACCESS


IEEE ICC 2014 will offer free wireless access. The conference venue will be equipped with wireless access points.  There will be no internet café this year. 



COMPANION HOSPITALITY

Companions are invited to begin their daily activities in the Companion Hospitality Suite Room 9, Level 1 with continental breakfast and soft drinks in the afternoon.

SPEAKER READY ROOM

The  Speaker Ready Room has been designated on the 3rd floor of Hilton Sydney, at the corner of the exhibit floor near in between the exhibit booths CSIRO and UTS. The Room is available Wednsday – Saturday, 8:00 – 17:00 for any presenters to rehearse and prepare for their presentations.



STUDENT TRAVEL GRANTS

Student Travel Grant Recipients can pick up their certificates at the Registration Desk during registration hours.



LANGUAGE

All conference sessions and publications will be in English.


 

CELL PHONES/PDAs/LAPTOPS/BEEPERS


Please be cognizant and respectful of your fellow conference attendees and speakers. During sessions, please lower the volume on your electronic devices and put your phones on vibrate mode.


 

TUTORIAL AND WORKSHOP MATERIALS


Tutorial materials will be available for download using a link provided by the tutorial speaker.  Workshop materials will be provided at the workshop.

 


LOCAL INFORMATION

 

Maps and brochures are available at the concierge desk in the Hilton Sydney.  The conference app also has maps including the route from the Hilton to the Sheraton. Average temperature in June is part of Sydney’s winter season and temperatures on average will be 16.9°C (62.4 °F) during the day and 9.2°C (48.6°F) during the evenings. Standard Time Zone is during June is Greenwich Mean Time plus 10 hours

 

Tipping: Here are some examples: restaurants: 15% of bill, unless a gratuity is already added to the bill; bartenders: 10%-15% of total bill; bellhops: at least $2-$3 per bag or $5-$8 for a lot of baggage; taxi drivers: 10%-15% of the fare; airport attendants: $3 per bag or $5-$8 for a lot of baggage; valet parking attendants: $2-$5.

 

BUSINESS CENTER

The hotel no longer has a business center. Computers are available at Café Cino on the ground floor of the lobby. For printing needs you can go to reception.



TRANSPORTATION

Airport Shuttle Bus to city hotels: AUD$15 to AUD$20

Train: AUD$15.90 to AUD$18.00 - the closest station to the hotels is Town Hall (Queen Victoria Building exit) or Museum, which are both on a direct service from the airport followed by an 8-10 minute walk. Buy a ticket to the City from the airport station and you can alight at either station.

 

Taxi fare estimates: Sydney City $40-55 (one way) - there is a taxi rank at the international airport and taxi line supervisors to monitor the flow of the taxi traffic and passenger loading. Travel time, depending on traffic, is 30 -35 minutes. You can pay for your taxi using all major credit cards (however a 10% surcharge applies). Gratuity (tipping) of taxi drivers is neither compulsory nor expected and is at the discretion of the passenger.
