Gordon Van Gelder worked as an editor for St. Martin's Press through the 1990s, where he worked on a variety of fiction and nonfiction titles, including mysteries, sf, fantasy, nonfiction, and unclassifiable books. He was an editor and occasional reviewer for The New York Review of Science Fiction from 1988 to 1994. Since 1997, has been the editor of The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction. He became the magazine's publisher in 2000. He has also edited several anthologies, including Welcome to the Greenhouse and Lost Souls. He has been honored twice with the World Fantasy Award and twice with the Hugo Award. He lives in New Jersey.
