James Alan Gardner has written eight published novels and numerous shorter works. His stories have won the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award, the Asimov's Readers' Choice Award, and the Aurora Award, as well as being on the final ballot for the Nebula and Hugo awards. In his laughably small amount of spare time, he teaches kung fu and practices meditation. Many moons ago, he got his Master's in Applied Mathematics, but recently he has started an Honors Earth Sciences (Geology) degree. He lives in southern Ontario under the stern supervision of a tyrannical rabbit.
