Richard Bowes

Richard Bowes is an American author specializing in science fiction and fantasy. He has published six novels; four short story collections, including The Queen, The Cambion, and Seven Others, and If Angels Fight; as well as more than 70 short stories. His most recent novel, Dust Devil on a Quiet Street (Lethe Press), is honored by the World Fantasy Convention in the Novel category, and also has been nominated for a Lamda award. A new edition of his 2000 World Fantasy and Lambda award-winning novel Minions of the Moon was published in 2013. In 2014, stories are scheduled to appear in The Time Traveller’s Almanac, Handsome Devil, The Mammoth Book of Gaslit Romance, The Book of Apex: Volume 4, The Revelator, Best Gay Stories 2014 and Tor.com. His novel From the Files of the Time Rangers was on the short list for the Nebula. His short story “There’s a Hole in the City,” from his novel Dust Devil on a Quiet Street, won a Million Writers Award, an International Horror Guild Award, and was short-listed for the Nebula. Another, “I Needs Must Part the Policeman Said,” was on the Nebula and World Fantasy short lists. Born in Boston in 1944, Bowes currently lives in New York City.
