Featuring leading drug transporter scientists including members of the International Transporter Consortium (ITC), this session aims to help participants 1) understand the fundamentals and clinical implications of transporter-mediated active drug transport; 2) learn the current best practices, major challenges and future directions in in vitro transporter studies and in vitro and in vivo correlation (IVIVC), and 3) develop well informed strategies for producing more reliable transporter data, and for improving IVIVC of clinical drug disposition and Drug-Drug Interactions (DDIs). This session will be particularly useful when it is placed early in the programs such that participants can apply what they have learned from the session in better appreciating transporter-related DMPK and DDI studies presented during the conference.
