In this talk, I will introduce the Yunnan Model of evolutionary population synthesis, in which binary interactions are considered. I will review how hot objects, such as soft X-ray sources, hot subdwarf stars, blue stragglers, which radiate at short wavelengths, can be produced via binary interactions. I will then review how binary interactions change the integrated spectral energy distribution (ISED) of stellar populations and contribute to the X-ray luminosity, the UV radiation and the B-band of early-type galaxies.
