We will present our recent results on the photometric and structural properties of a large sample of Nuclear Star Clusters (NSCs) in late-type galaxies based on measurements from archival HST/WFPC2 data. We will discuss the main NSC formation channels (in situ and cluster merging) and their possible (evolutionary) connection to other incarnations of massive compact stellar systems such as massive globular clusters (e.g. wCen, M54, G1, etc.) and ultra compact dwarfs (UCDs).
