Intrinsic scale lengths, inclinations and bulge-to-disk ratios of galaxies are critical inputs for radiation-transfer modelling of the panchromatic (UV/optical-MIR/FIR/submm) broadband spectral energy distribution of spiral galaxies. Although these quantities can be derived from analysis of surface photometry of optical images of targets, the effect of the dust on the measured brightness distributions in the optical must be taken into account if a fully self-consistent analysis incorporating the panchromatic and surface photometry is to be achieved. Here we give results of a careful analysis of surface photometry for a benchmark sample of
well resolved nearby spiral galaxies. We then show how the results can be used in conjunction with a
radiation transfer analysis of the panchromatic output of the same objects and the library of morphological corrections for dust given by Pastrav et al.(2013a,b) to provide self-consistent corrections for the morphological and photometric parameters of the disk and bulge components of the target galaxies.
