GREAT is a research network enabling scientific networking across Europe and more widely, with the aim to enhance the scientific exploitation of the ESA Gaia mission. GREAT has supported many workshops, conferences, schools and exchange visits.
Gaia was successfully launched in December 2013 with its first major data releases due in summer 2016. It is now mapping over one billion objects, collecting exquisite astrometric, photometric and spectroscopic data from objects in our Solar system, stars in the Milky Way, and objects more distant. Gaia, charting the three-dimensional map of our Galaxy, will enable transformational new breakthroughs in our understanding of the Galaxy and Universe.
Visit the stand to find out the latest news about Gaia from the ESA Gaia mission and from the Gaia Data Processing and Analysis Consortium (DPAC). Also discover how you can participate in upcoming GREAT events, and indeed be part of the 2016-2020 GREAT programme.
