New Student Orientation (NSO) is a one-day program for new SIU students and their families and supporters. You will register for classes, and can complete all items on your checklist.
After NSO, you'll know what to expect on your first day of classes. NSO will make sure you are ready to make the most of your time when you first arrive on campus and throughout your academic career.
You chose SIU to become part of something big, to join a challenging yet supportive academic community. New Student Orientation (NSO) is your opportunity to claim your place.
We've been doing this awhile, and we've discovered that students who attend NSO often have higher first semester GPAs and a deeper connection to campus. That's why attendance at NSO is required for all new freshmen.
What's so great about NSO? We remove the "oops, I forgot" and the "I wish I'd known" factors by helping you take care of all the details for your first day as a student. And we introduce you to some of the resources that will help you take your best and make it better.
And you'll meet the heart of our University – fellow new students, students who've been here a bit, and faculty and staff.
