Church Mutual

Church Mutual was founded on March 4, 1897, by two Lutheran pastors and eight laymen from two Merrill congregations. The company's first policy was written on June 3 of that year.

Church Mutual is the nation's leading insurer of religious institutions and a premier insurance services provider for senior living facilities, schools – both religious and non-religious based – and camps. With a common mission to protect the greater good and over a century of experience, Church Mutual understands the unique exposures and needs of these markets. Church Mutual offers coverage for many lines including, but not limited to:

  • Commercial property and liability insurance
  • Multi-peril coverage
  • Workers' compensation
  • Commercial auto insurance
Church Mutual not only provides financial protection but also connects policyholders to a wealth of resources not found with other providers. We provide a broad array of risk control tips and information, support our customers with nationally recognized customer service excellence, connect customers to a 24/7 nurse hotline and provide background screening services to strengthen hiring practices. These are just a few benefits that set us above the rest. Church Mutual is rated A (Excellent) by industry analyst firm A.M. Best and was named again to the prestigious Ward's Top 50 list in 2016.
