55th NAfME Eastern Division Biennial Conference

Welcome to the 55th Biennial NAfME Eastern Division In-Service Conference. We are very excited to return to Atlantic City for this event and hope that you enjoy the many unique amenities this city has to offer. We are honored that you are joining us for the opportunity to grow professionally, connect with colleagues, and be inspired by outstanding performances and workshops.

Part of what makes the Eastern Division Conference so special are the many opportunities to share this experience with friends, mentors and colleagues throughout the division. This is the perfect time to acquire new ideas, strategies, and resources that are the “latest and greatest" in our profession. We are proud to offer over 200 sessions with presenters from across the country. It all begins on Wednesday morning with the Academies which are designed to focus your professional development in a specific content area. In addition, we are very excited to showcase over 40 talented school, collegiate, and community performing ensembles that will be featured throughout the conference. Also, I encourage everyone to visit the exhibits to see what's new in the music industry and to thank our exhibitors for supporting this event!

You won't want to miss the General Sessions on Thursday and Friday featuring world-renown performing artist, Rita Moreno and our very own NAfME President, Denese Odegaard. Also, be sure to attend the evening featured concerts beginning on Wednesday with a performance by Steven Ball on the world's largest pipe organ in Boardwalk Hall. The incredible New York Voices will be the highlight on Thursday evening and the United States Air Force Band and Singing Sergeants will perform on Friday. Saturday will feature concerts by over 800 students in the Eastern Division Honors Ensembles. These performances are sure to inspire all who attend!

A special thanks goes out to the members of the Conference Committee for all of their diligent preparations and to the New Jersey Music Educators Association for hosting and managing this event! We also want to thank the many volunteers including CNAfME, Tri-M, state leaders, and state MEA members who have contributed to the success of this conference. I also want to express my gratitude to you for your commitment to music education and for inspiring your students every day!

The Eastern Division conference is an experience like none other! Every opportunity and interaction reminds us that teaching music is important. Sharing our stories and challenges with colleagues renews our passion and commitment to our profession. We realize we are not alone as we strive to bring ourselves and our students to a higher level of musical skill and understanding. Take advantage of every occasion throughout the conference to find new ways to think critically, communicate your message, collaborate with colleagues, and enhance your personal creativity and musicianship. Enjoy your time here and leave motivated and empowered to carry your passion for music education forward.
