Maria Kaefer, MD

Kaefer is passionate about empowering patients to take an active part in their own health and healing, caring for those who our society and health care system has marginalized, and rooting out racism, xenophobia, and exclusion of any kind, from all spheres of medicine. She graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed her residency training at the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 2002. She worked for three years as faculty at the University of Minnesota and subsequently at Clinica de La Raza in Oakland, CA. She joined the staff of HCMC's department of Family Medicine in 2007 and as Medical Director of the Family Tree Clinic in 2014.
