Through the music of the Final Fantasy series from the first installment to FFVII, the creators of High Score will explore how the digital orchestra has developed. From chiptune reproductions of instruments up through sampled orchestral recordings, Final Fantasy offers an excellent narrative line through the sonic history of console gaming. Join us as we discuss the hardware limitations of cartridge-based systems and the seminal leap into sampled music brought by the advent of CDs. You can expect us to discuss the career of Nobuo Uematsu, the ‘Prelude’, the famous opera of FFVI and ‘One-Winged Angel’, along with many themes from earlier titles and how they all relate to the development of sound and music in video game history.
