What is an app vs a guide?
Think of the app as the container and guides as the experiences inside it. Your branded app is the single download students get from the App Store or Google Play, carrying your institution's name, logo, and identity. Inside that app, each event or program lives as its own guide with its own schedule, maps, attendee list, and content. For example, orientation, homecoming, athletics season, alumni weekend, study abroad cohorts, and academic conferences can each be their own guide, all living inside one institutional app.
This means you only need one app for your whole institution, but you can run unlimited guides inside it. New events can be added throughout the year without students having to download anything new.

Do I need an IT team to run this?
Nope. Most of the people setting up Guidebook are orientation coordinators, admissions managers, or events leads, not IT. There's no code, no servers, no tickets to file. If you want to plug into your SSO or publish under your institution's own App Store accounts, that's where IT can step in, but it's optional.

Can we use one app across orientation, athletics, and alumni?
Yes, this is one of the most common Guidebook setups for higher ed. A single branded container app can hold unlimited guides, so orientation, athletics, alumni events, study abroad, parent weekend, and conferences all live under your institution's brand. Users download once and find every experience inside.
Do you support SSO (Okta, Azure AD, Shibboleth)?
Yes. Guidebook supports SSO with your school's existing identity provider, available on branded app plans. Your IT team handles the identity provider side and we partner with them on setup. Reach out to sales@guidebook.com to scope it for your school.
How do students download our branded app?
Students download your branded app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. They find it by searching your school's name, scanning a QR code from your marketing, or following a link from your site or email. Individual guides can also be shared as a web link for anyone who'd rather not install.
